Trip to Spain

Hola,

These are some of the pictures from our wonderful summer trip to Madrid & Barcelona, Spain. For any of you who are considering a get away. We recommend it very much.

First of all, we visited my sister who lives in downtown Madrid, Spain. Larry and I walked every day at least a mile or two not just for exercise, but to see such a beautiful and lively city. You can see all kinds of people walking in the streets holding hands, older people walking with their sons or daughters, husbands pushing stroller, or simply people going to and from work, We visited museums, castles, and parks. The most amazing and important museum was ‘EL PRADO’, museum as we could not believe we were in front of an authentic and known paintings of the world. We felt as we could almost touch a “Rembrandt or Picasso” We learn a great deal about the famous painters Velasquez and El Greco painters. We thoroughly enjoyed were window shopping and to my amazement when Larry went walking by himself and when he was tired, he would stop on his own at any cafeteria and order a coffee with milk on his own. I really think that he enjoyed himself a lot, especially my sister’s cooking.

We also took a very fast train to go to Barcelona, which is northwest of Madrid. They call this train ‘El AVE’ which means the bird. To our amazement it went 180 miles an hour. You could walk to the back of the train, where the cafeteria was located. It felt as if we were on the ground.

Artistically, we enjoyed the Park GUELL which had most everything made with Mosaics, the benches, the ceilings, around the houses, the walls going up to the park..etc All of this was inspired by the architect and great patron name ’Gaudi ‘

Another unforgettable event during our trip was to the most famous ‘Tablao Flamenco’ dancers in the world. This is a place where famous people from all over the world enjoy the beautiful Spanish flamenco dancers, with their beautiful dresses and grace.

I could write much more about Spain, but it is better if you have the opportunity to visit in person. We know that you will enjoy it like we did. The cities are very clean and the people are extremely nice and friendly. In the meantime, enjoy these pictures!

Adios amigos,

Christina

Larrys Blurb from the Frog Pond 06/04/08

Last Monday Disasters:

Memorial Day 5 /26/ 08 Planing to spend the better part of the day making beads..I went down at 5:30 A.M. every thing was OK.I came up stairs shower shave. At 6:00 A.M. I went down stairs to start Found about 10" of water in basement. Took every thing I could to higher ground. Water coming in to fast.washing silt over the top of my #1 pump burnt up pump. Went and bought a new pump that takes out 5,800 Gal per hour. by the time I got the pump and flex hose hooked up about 45 minutes later 29 1/2 " of water and thick mud and silt over every thing in basement. We are still cleaning up and trying to get things back in order. Thanks to the crew and to my friends I only have about a week left and we should be up and running.

This all happened because some company working in the basement cut off the storm sewer pipe and left it open. did not re plug the drain. So you have a little of the story.

If the company's insurance does not help me I will let every one know who the company is. They are nation wide. We have lost " THOUSANDS "

Thank You

Little Blurb from Larry ... Apr 17, 2007.

This is a story that my Niece wrote about the making of beads. Gabriela is 9 & 1/2 years old.

The Beadmaker

This is how beads were born - Once a very long time ago there was a girl named Topia she loved colors and sunbeams but most of all she loved beads.
Dear Sunbeam she wrote,
Please teach me how to make beads with colors and sunbeams inside. The sunbeam thought this was a great idea but Sunbeam only wanted himself in the bead so he answered Topia, "Yes But only ME!"
"But Sunbeam...." She started.
"NO!" He yelled which slowed down the sundown in the west. Topia was devastated. So she wrote a letter to the color queen,
Dear Color Queen
Can you help me mix your colors into beads and help me catch a sunbeam with it?
The Color Queen was delighted to have such a privilege, "Why YES! Indeed" said the Color Queen. At this word the sunbeam overheard and was bursting "NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He trembled and with that the earth shook, the winds broke, the sea burst and the sunbeam turned to a star, sparks flying everywhere and thats why the glass beads today are made my the sunbeam.
